The Book of Abraham

What do you all think about the Book of Abraham papyri? It seems beyond question that they are in fact NOT what Joseph Smith purported them to be. This, one would think, is bad news for the Church.

However, the Church thrives. In fact, most members are not even aware of the problems surrounding the Book of Abraham. And those who are aware, are able to explain away the problem to their own satisfaction.

While this may be a oft repeated assertion, it is by no means true. The problem is one of perception. From my perspective, which arises from a unique viewpoint based in research into cosmology and cosmogony, Joseph's interpretations of those documents was spot on. One cannot make the case that he thought them to be the source of his Book of Abraham. But, the specific notes or explanations he gave, which are undeniably his own conclusions, of the various glyphs or icons were eminently accurate, in my view.
