3 MTC Missionaries Diagnosed With Swine Flu

I wonder why God would permit something like swine flu to afflict his missionaries, and thereby hinder His own work. Swine flu has hit the MTC hard. Story here.

Your question reminds me of the saying "I never said it would be easy I only said it would be worth it." And do you remember the Wentworth letter, the one that gave us the Articles of Faith, there was another very important quote in it. Known as the Standard of Truth. “Our missionaries are going forth to different nations . . . the Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.” If no unhallowed "hand" can stop the Lord's work, what make you think a little bug called swine flu will "hinder" the His work? Silly thought you had there. It didn't even slow it down. It only caused the parents to have to say good bye an hour earlier. Missionaries are being called at the rate as before Swine flu. Oh and my son got the regular season flu last week, and will get the Swine flu shot in November or December just before he leaves on his mission. He put in his papers 2 months AFTER the MTC stopped letting parents come in. It didn't stop his desire to serve the Lord.
